Transportation in the city

To GTA cities, Go Transit is a long-distance carrier. Buses, luxurious diesel trains, and two-story electric trains are part of this transit system. The cost of this carrier is among the highest, although using public transportation might result in significant savings. Maritime Bus is the province's main bus service provider. Halifax's main public transportation system is Metro Transit, which stops in cities like Timberlea, Bedford, Sackville, Dartmouth, and Cole Harbour.


Services offered by the university

The university library keeps a comprehensive and distinctive collection of print, digital, and multimedia resources. It provides private and group study areas and equipment for scanning, copying, and printing.

  • Six levels of print and multimedia resources, an ever-growing collection of digital resources, and a range of private and group study areas may all be found in the Library.
  • It has a committed team of librarians, archivists, employees, and student assistants to give our students, professors, and community members the tools and services they need to succeed in their endeavors.
  •  All students can take advantage of the free services provided by the writing center, including individual tutorials with qualified tutors and a range of specialized seminars.
  • The Acadia Students' Union (ASU) is a nonprofit organization that offers services, activities, societies, and advocacy work for Acadia University students, among other things. The ASU is a group that is run by and for students. There are more than 100 paid staff members and numerous volunteers.
  • It supports your mental health needs and provides free, confidential services to all Acadia students. In addition to the support available on-campus, Acadia University presently offers five of HealthyMindsNS's online mental health services.
  • The Department of Safety and Security collaborates with the campus community, local law enforcement, and community response teams to maintain a safe, secure, and healthy campus for students, teachers, staff, and visitors.

Student life at Acadia University

The university's 250-acre campus, located in Wolfville's Annapolis Valley, is home to top-notch academic, administrative, recreational, and housing facilities.

The campus's sporting amenities include a swimming pool, dance studio, fitness center, sports therapy clinic, One gymnasium, squash and racquetball courts, walking paths, and tennis courts.

  • In support of Acadia's purpose, the technology services team offers a wide range of services to students, professors, and staff. The main entrance to Technology Services is the Service Desk, situated in the BAC. From there, it offers in-person and online support for technological demands.
  • The English Language Center at Acadia University will help you develop your academic English language abilities and prepare you for university studies at Acadia University or Canada. The encouraging environment, small class sizes, extensive use of technology, and knowledgeable English teachers will help you learn.
  • Evolve Fitness and a Halifax-based company started offering online boot camps after the epidemic first forced them to close their physical location. Both live and pre-recorded versions are available for the hour-long boot camps.
  • Students can sign up for drop-in recreation sessions for unstructured play and kickarounds. Raymond Field, War Memorial Gym, and Andrew H. McCain Arena offer drop-in recreation.
  • Students can access fun, one-night-only recreational events on Fridays and Saturdays. These gatherings are meant to be enjoyable, welcoming, and stand-alone occasions.
  • Acadia Theatre students must work on both sides of the footlight because theatre is a collaborative process that prepares students to be as adaptable in the skills they learn and use as the modern world demands. 
  • This might be a one-night competition, a unique fitness class, or a night of unusual activities for students.
  • Each year, Acadia Theatre students direct, create, and present one-act plays with constrained casts and scenographic requirements as part of a mini-fest. Hundreds of plays worldwide are submitted each year for jury review.
  • The K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre and the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens are located in the center of this area and the Acadia University campus.
