Auckland University of Technology  is a university in New Zealand that gained university status on 1 January 2000. Originally established as a technical college in 1895, AUT has grown to become the third-largest university in the country, with around 29,100 students enrolled across its three Auckland campuses. The university is organised into five faculties, and it also operates three specialised centres: AUT Millennium, the Warkworth Radio Astronomical Observatory, and the AUT Centre for Refugee Education.

In 2018, AUT enrolled over 29,000 students, including 4,194 international students from 94 different countries and 2,417 postgraduate students. The student body spans a wide range of ages, with 22% aged between 25 and 39, and 10% aged 40 or older. As of 2016, AUT employed 2,474 full-time equivalent staff across both academic and professional roles. Data shows that 86% of AUT graduates secure full-time employment within nine months of graduation.

Campus

Auckland University of Technology (AUT) has three main campuses: City (located in Auckland CBD), North, and South, along with its specialised training institute, Millennium. Both the City and North campuses offer student accommodation. AUT also operates a shuttle bus service connecting the City and South campuses. The City Campus is spread across multiple sites in central Auckland, with its largest location on Wellesley Street East, where most academic units and central administration are based.

Opened in 2010, the South Campus (formerly known as Manukau Campus) became the first university campus in that region and offers both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. The North Campus, situated on Akoranga Drive in Northcote, is home to the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences, which includes the Sport and Recreation division, as well as the School of Education. This campus features expansive, park-like grounds.
