Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), widely referred to as Florida A&M, is a public historically Black university located in Tallahassee, Florida. Established in 1887, it is the third largest historically Black university in the United States by enrollment and the only public HBCU in the state of Florida. FAMU is a member of the State University System of Florida and holds the designation of a land-grant university.
