The Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) is a private design institution in Italy, founded in 1966 by Francesco Morelli. The Milan campus, considered the flagship location, is directed by Alberico Guerzoni. IED focuses on four core disciplines: Design, Fashion, Visual Communication, and Management.

Operating across nine cities—Milan, Turin, Venice, Cagliari, Florence, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, and São Paulo—the institute has thirteen locations covering over 50,000 square metres. It offers 29 three-year courses in multiple languages, including English, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese, with around 10,000 students enrolling annually. Over its forty-year history, more than 90,000 students have attended IED’s programs.

Completing the three-year course awards students the 'Diploma Accademico di primo Livello' (First-Level Academic Diploma), which is officially recognized by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) in Italy under the High Artistic Training category (Ministerial Decree of December 10, 2010, No. 292).

In Spain, IED provides a Bachelor of Arts with Honours as well as Master’s, Postgraduate, Continuing 51成人导航 Programs, Summer Courses, and Executive Programs in fields such as Product Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design, and Graphic Design. Students who complete the four-year program receive a Bachelor of Arts with Honours. In Brazil, students can earn the Diploma Universitário after a three-year course in Fashion, Design, and Visual Arts. Meanwhile, IED’s China campuses offer a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Fashion, Visual Arts, Industrial Design, and Project Management.

IED Istituto Europeo di Design Global Ranking 

The University is still awaiting its official rankings from prominent organisations such as QS, Times Higher Education, and US News and World Report. Despite its growing reputation and contributions to academia, the university has not yet been featured in the rankings published by these influential bodies. But it has been ranked at #101-150 in art and design subject 2024 by QS World Rankings.

Although the University continues to develop its academic programs and research initiatives, it remains unranked by these major international ranking institutions. The absence of a ranking from QS, Times Higher Education, and US News does not reflect the quality of education or research output but simply indicates that the university has not been formally assessed by these specific agencies.
