It was founded in 1949, although Niigata Medical College, which was founded in 1922, and Niigata Higher School are its principal antecedents (established in 1919). The institution has seven graduate schools and nine faculties (as of April 2010). Transportation in the city
The location of Niigata University makes it simple to reach from large cities like Tokyo and Osaka thanks to the availability of several public transportation alternatives.
