Started as a school for agricultural training and a school of mining, University of Alaska grew quickly and widely. Founded in 1917, classes officially began at the Alaska Agricultural School with just six students. Now with nine colleges to its name and a student body comprising of more than eleven thousand students, the University has grown tremendously.
By 1935, the school had been officially renamed to University of Alaska and had included other courses such as science, engineering and arts by this time. One of the most unique facet of the university is the operation of the Poker Flat Research Range which is the only known university operated rocket range in the world!
Now, UAF is the leading institution to offer Ph.D degrees in different fields of sciences and engineering. The University also offers various undergraduate courses for students seeking newer subjects and interests. It offers 145 degrees and 31 certificates in 116 subjects.

UAF is easily reachable by land or air. The distance between the university from Anchorage and Seattle is 365 miles and 2300 miles away respectively. There is an availability of daily flights between Fairbanks and Anchorage, Seattle, and many other destinations. Apart from that, you can also reach the UAF through -
